COVID-19 UpdatE

Dear Members,

The Government anticipate that, in England, hospitality venues may open again on 17 May 2021.    Watch the news for this to be confirmed.   After six months we cannot be more excited at the prospect of seeing old friends and enjoying convivial gatherings.   The staff are ready to serve you.

Most members have already renewed for 2021 and many life members have made generous donations   The Chairman is very grateful for the loyalty of members.   Others wishing to retain their membership can renew on their next visit.

During this enforced closure, the remaining areas of flat roof have been resurfaced (apart from over the kitchen which is still in reasonable condition) and comes with a 15-year guarantee.  Also, the air conditioning in the snooker room has been replaced (beyond economical repair).   You will find that other works also have been undertaken.

The function room is already in use by various groups from Monday to Friday of each week.    Our tenants have also been present throughout the lockdown.

You will appreciate that from 17 May 2021 there is a further easing of restrictions, with the following Rule applying to hospitality venues:

  • Indoor areas of hospitality venues i.e. our Club, may reopen with table service a requirement..

The Club will therefore reinstate the Rules applying when the Club was forced to close last November:

  • restricted to 16 people seated plus use of the darts area and the Estuary Suite when necessary
  • 90 minutes stay – to maximise the availability to more members
  • signing in register
  • face mask to be worn until seated and when standing
  • table service – tables not to be moved.
  • All snooker tables to be in use and equipment to be cleaned after use.  Maximum 4 tables with two playing or two tables with four playing.

The Club will be open daily from 17 May 2021:

Please see below for Club opening hours and take note that the Bar will be open 30 minutes after the Club Opens and will shut 30 minutes before closing time to allow the staff to carry out cleaning and other duties

Please take note of any Govt. guidance or regulations which will be strictly adhered to by the Club and will obviously be subject to change at short notice.

If in any doubt please refer to the Club notice board or the duty steward.
